Floral Park, San Juan, Puerto Rico 
A young couple reconstruct a compact, two-storey house, built c.1935 within one of the first planned urbanizations in San Juan.  The reinforced concrete structure was in good condition – with hydraulic , yet configured with small, contained ‘rooms’, not well suited for 21st century living.  The straightforward, lean budget solution was to widen the openings between spaces – permitting visual, illumination and airflow.  The rear sector of was transformed into a house-wide porch – taking advantage of the morning light and the prevailing (East) breezes.  The supplementary simple improvements include, among others, new windows, stair, kitchen and bathrooms.
