Apart. San Sebastian #6

San Juan, Puerto Rico - 1979

This extremely compact structure of only 90 square meters was rescued from ruin (c1876) and transformed into a serene, meticulously detailed minute residence for a young family (couple and their infant son).

The exceptional finish materials included Angelique/Basralocus and Wana wood from Suriname, 30’x30” black marquina marble floors and recycled granite from bank teller wickets.  The actual construction, particularly the woodwork, was done by the Architect (owner); when necessary, subcontracting specialized firms and/or individuals for selected tasks (plumbing, electricity, etc.).
